Lotus has big appetite for Food!

Lotus Technical Services is playing a critical role in the expansion of one of the largest Food companies in Ireland.

The Sligo firm has been chosen for its expertise in EU safety standards to ensure a major new production line secures its CE compliance.

Lotus Technical Services Operations Manager Declan Hennessy said the contract "consolidates Lotus Technical Services unbeaten reputation in delivering CE compliance" to manufacturers all over the country.

"Equipment from all over the world is currently being put together at our client’s plant for a new production line. We're won the contract to ensure they reach the standards required by EU law to gain the crucial CE mark" said Mr Hennessy.

It's the latest in a series of contracts the technical arm of LotusWorks has won for its work on CE markings within the manufacturing industry.

It's expected to be completed by the end of Q3 2010: "LotusWorks will ensure our client will meet the CE requirements under the updated new EU Machinery Directive" Mr Hennessy explained. "This is a purpose-built new production line created by our client and we're delighted to have been chosen to take their high standards to world-class level" he added.

The firm has been growing its expertise since the EU updated the 2006 Machinery Directive last December. It's resulted in even more rigorous guidelines for many Irish companies said Mr Hennessy: "It's a more defined directive. It's only applicable to new production equipment or equipment being upgraded. While it can be an extra headache for firms, we have developed expertise in this whole area to take the pain out of expanding your business or product".

"Our latest methodology is based on the updated Machinery Directive brought in December 29 2009. It's definitely an area of potential expertise growth for Lotus Technical Services and one we're keen to share with our clients - whether its a single product that needs a CE mark or a whole Production line we achieve compliance and bring efficiencies to the whole process for companies who don’t have the expertise in house " he added.
